2014 November

We spent a few days catching up, cleaning the rig inside and out, laundry, groceries, etc.  After being on the road for awhile it sure felt good to have a few do nothing days.  We started out slow by doing some scenic drives through the many Hill Country's small towns.  We bought an annual pass to the Kerrville-Schreiner Park to enjoy the hiking trails since it was only a couple miles from our RV Park.

We drove up to Fredericksburg, Tx to meet our Fig Tree RV Resort Canadian friends for lunch at Hondo’s and had great burgers and barbeque.  Spent a day at Lost Maples State Natural Area to hike and see the fall colors.  For a Texan this is a rare awesome sight location for fall colors but for those of us from Michigan it was pretty mild.

Boots on fence posts along the scenic drive, they went for about a quarter of a mile.

We met our Canadian friends again in Fredericksburg for the Pacific Combat Living History Re-enactment at the National Museum of the Pacific War.  This was a very educational, 90min. action packed re-enactment with full background descriptions and operations (including firing blanks) of all the war hardware armament.  Jerry loved the flame thrower.  They only do it one weekend a month (Spring through Fall) so if you are ever in the area we would highly recommend it.

We enjoyed great barbeque at the Maywald’s Sisterdale Smokehouse before an afternoon of music and refreshments at Luckenbach, Tx.

We took a side trip into San Antonio, spent the night at the Hotel Indigo – Alamo near the Riverwalk.  Jerry did the Ultimate Segway tour of San Antonio (2 ½ hours), he was the only client on the tour and had a great time.  While Jerry was on the Segway tour Belinda visited the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum and Louis Trussaud’s Wax Museum, lots of interesting items and laughs along the way.  We had a very nice dinner at Laundry’s Seafood restaurant on the Riverwalk.  The weather was great.

We spent the day at the Enchanted Springs Ranch, an old west theme park.  Originally built as a movie set that has turned into a multi use venue.  The highlight was Pistol Packin Paula, she is a 2 time national champion pistol spinner.  The 25 minute show was amazing to watch.  We enjoyed the wild game wagon ride and the tour of the old west town movie set.
