2016 - March
Fred and Nancy
visited us for a week in March. We had a
great time together. They flew into San Antonio where we
picked them up and spent a night on the River Walk, enjoying great food and
sightseeing.
We drove back to Harlingen and had 4 very
busy days packed with lots of sightseeing and lots of great restaurants.
We visited the
Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville
with a few of our Fig Tree friends along.
We spent a day
on South Padre Island visiting several beaches
and seeing the highlights. Lunch at
Pirates Landing in Port Isabel.
Our next day
was a visit to Progresso, Mexico. Breakfast at Renee’s then browsing the shops
with a stop for a margarita upstairs at the Red Panty Bar. Back in Texas we drove to Willie’s Barbecue for
lunch where the 4 of us split 1 very large baked potato with the works on
top. They have the biggest baked
potatoes we have every seen.
On their last
day in south Texas
we wandered through the Don West Flea Market with a few purchases. Lunch was their first visit to a Whataburger,
a Texas original. We visited the Iwo Jima
Memorial and Museum in Harlingen.
We drove them
back to San Antonio
with plenty of time to catch their plane.
It was great to have them visit and we were blessed with wonderful
weather.
We enjoyed park activities and great weather before heading back home in April.
