2017 - August - Our sixth winter journey begins

Our 2017-2018 journey started off early this year with our first trip across the Mackinaw Bridge in the Motorhome.  It was a beautiful drive across the upper peninsula.  We hit a few days of rain then back into sunshine.

One of the rest stops along I-94 is the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  We only saw a glimpse from the road, beautiful country.

We had a wonderful visit and a great lunch with 2nd cousins, Tim and Sandy in Billings, Montana.  The first KOA is in Billings, MT.
Our first stop was Cody, Wyoming, hometown of Buffalo Bill Cody.  We started out with the Cody Trolley Tour, a great way to learn about a town and the history.  As they say, give us an hour and we will give you 100 years, they sure did.

We walked around town and enjoyed lunch at the Irma Hotel, built by Buffalo Bill Cody in 1902.  It had beautiful woodwork throughout.

We toured the Buffalo Bill Dam just west of Cody.

We then enjoyed the Cody Cattle Company Dinner and Show, good cowboy grub, music, and entertainment.

The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is 5 museums in one.  It is a full day of history and art all in one place.

The Buffalo Bill Cody Museum is a very extensive representation of the life and times of Buffalo Bill Cody, so much history.

The Cody Firearms Museum is the most extensive firearms collection we have ever seen.  It looks like every gun manufacturer is represented with almost every gun made.

The Draper Natural History Museum is a representation of the power and beauty of the Yellowstone region.

The Whitney Art Museum is a large collection of pictures and sculptures of the west through the artist’s eyes.

The Plains Indian Museum is the life and history of the Plains Indian People.

Then we went on a car road trip through the Beartooth Pass, an All American Scenic Highway.  It was a beautiful drive.  We were so high up we ran into a few patches of snow, oh no!!!
